Subdomain is an address created within the main domain (extension of the main domain). It is a web page that contains the name of the main website. With a subdomain, it is possible to create independent sections of the site within the same domain, for example, creating a new website with a different purpose than the main domain.

    Subdomain or domain?

In the context of SEO, subdomains and domains are treated by search engines as separate websites, after all the subdomain address is created within the main domain. This means that each subdomain must build its own authority and rankings in search results, independent of the main domain.

The web domain is the foundation for all SEO efforts. All pages and pages associated with that domain will benefit from its authority in browser results. This means that if the main domain is well optimized and has high authority, all sub-sites under that domain will have a better chance of achieving high rankings in search results.

Subdomains are treated as separate websites. This means that they need to build their own authority and rankings online. For example, if a company has a subdomain for its blog, that subdomain must be optimized separately from the rest of the site.

    Subdomain redirect

Subdomain redirection is a process that involves automatically redirecting traffic to another subdomain or web domain.

    Subdomain versus SEO web addresses

    1. Subdomains can help you target traffic to your site. For example, if a company has different products or services that are very different, they can use subdomains to focus on SEO optimization for each one individually.
    2. Companies operating in different markets can use subdomains to create versions of the site in different languages or for different countries. Search engines can recognize these subdomains and tailor search results to the appropriate region.
    3. Search engines treat subdomains as separate pages, so each subdomain must build its authority from scratch. In contrast, a structure with subfolders allows you to concentrate all of a site’s authority on a single domain.
